Pink as the Perfect Neutral: Creating a Timeless Dream Home.

We recently collaborated with Daniela Sanchez of My Lifestyle Memoir to add the finishing touches to her forever home. Drawing on her experiences in Europe, particularly Norway, Daniela infused her renovation with a Scandinavian aesthetic. She focused on light wood flooring, clean lines, and a calming palette of whites, greys, and soft pinks, accented with matte black finishes, resulting in a stunning reveal. After ten moves in ten years, Daniela and her family were committed to creating their forever home, one that was both beautiful and functional.

Pink as the Perfect Neutral

A standout element of Daniela's design was the use of pink in places that would typically be more neutral. “Pinks are often overlooked,” Daniela notes, “but with the right undertones, it adds a perfect pop of colour without overwhelming the space.” This philosophy is evident throughout her home, where muted pinks like Rose Silk by Benjamin Moore complement the whites and matte blacks in her kitchen and other areas.

Daniela's keen attention to detail extended to every aspect of her home, down to the finish of the door hinges. To achieve a cohesive and timeless look, she chose Schlage hardware for its functionality, durability and aesthetic.

Working with Schlage

“If your budget doesn’t allow for new doors, just updating the hardware can totally refresh your space,” Daniela explains. She selected the Latitude Lever with Kinsler Trim in Matte Black, a choice that perfectly matched her home’s overall design while providing a sturdy and easy-to-use solution for her family. “I know I wanted that modern touch for the white doors, but when it came down to the trims and finishes, functionality came into play. We wanted a lever that little hands wouldn’t slip off so easily, and the Latitude lever did that. The Latitude lever turned out to be a perfect complement to the Kinsler trim, which we wanted to soften the lines on the door.”

In addition to meeting her aesthetic and functional needs, Daniela also prioritized safety, especially with young children at home. The addition of several Schlage deadbolts throughout her home has provided the peace of mind she was looking for. “They’re super durable, easy to install, and most importantly, they make us feel secure,” Daniela shares.

Smart Technology in the Home

Smart technology is seamlessly integrated throughout Daniela's home, from smart lights and USB plugs to advanced kitchen faucets. A highlight of this setup is the Schlage Encode Plus Smart WiFi Door Lock. In her split-level home, where family members are often on different floors, the ability to control access remotely is invaluable. With the Schlage Encode Plus, Daniela can manage entry from her smartphone, provide temporary access codes to family members or tradespeople, and receive notifications when specific codes are used—an especially convenient feature during the renovation process. “If a trade needed to come on-site and they didn’t have a key, I could give them a code or grant them access,” Daniela explains.

Daniela’s renovation with Schlage has elevated both the aesthetic and functionality of her home, blending style, convenience, and security. We loved watching her vision come to life and are grateful to have been part of her journey in creating a Scandinavian-inspired dream home.
